Lucca lights up for the Holidays: Christmas and New Year’s Eve – between lights, traditions and entertainment.
From November 22, 2025, to January 6, 2026, Lucca will be transformed into a magical Christmas setting. The streets of the historic city centre will be animated by festive light installations that will redesign the characteristics squares, buildings and churches, creating unique atmospheres. Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Michele, Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and Teatro del Giglio will be the protagonists of artistic scenographies designed by renowned artists, for moments of wonder and unforgettable memories to share with those you love.
The Holiday Spirit will also come alive with traditional markets: in Piazza Napoleone, a French-style village will be set up with crafts, gastronomical delights and the typical aromas of Provence. Numerous events will follow in other squares and historic buildings around the city, with creative products, tastings, workshops and late night shopping in the days leading up to the Holidays.
The city will also offer a myriad of magical family activities, guided tours, ice skating and a Santa Claus Village. Tradition will take centre stage with the “Via dei Presepi”, a Nativity Scenes route that passes through some of Lucca’s most beautiful churches and iconic locations, where visitors can admire historical works and contemporary installations, open from December 8 to January 6.
Music will accompany this Holiday season with various concerts and moments dedicated to exchanging greetings with family and friends, leading up to the grand finale at the end of the year! On December 31, in Piazza Santa Maria, Lucca will say goodbye to 2025 with the show entitled “I Want to Go Back to the 90s”, a free event featuring entertainment, live music and a DJ set until 3 A.M. At midnight, a spectacular fireworks display is planned to light up the square and ring in the New Year.
Lucca is ready to celebrate the Holidays, offering a rich and unforgettable experience that combines art, tradition, flavour and fun.
And, as always, Hotel San Marco is ready to welcome those wishing to spend this special time in Lucca, to experience the magic of the Holidays and the arrival of the New Year together.
